The team at the Stout Street Foundation kitchen help people help themselves by providing nutritious, healthy meals.
At NestFresh, we are proud to be part of our community and we are excited to continue our series of guest posts from some of the wonderful people that are doing great work building strong and healthy communities. We are proud to partner with these people and organizations.
Today’s post is from Stout Street Foundation, which offers rehabilitation, therapeutic community, and residential treatment programs to help people help themselves.
“The mission of Stout Street Foundation (SSF) is to provide the necessary services and support in a therapeutic community environment to assist addicts and alcoholics to help themselves in rehabilitation, recovery, and transition in returning to society as productive and responsible citizens.
Contributions from caring organizations like NestFresh enables us to serve a variety of menu items prepared with wholesome products seven days a week and dramatically offsets the cost of providing services to over three-hundred residents each fiscal year. Those who turn to us for help have often experienced homelessness and years of addiction, which has depleted their health.
Nutritious meals are uplifting to our residents’ spirits and provides them with a healthy lifestyle, often for the first time in their lives. Things that some of us take for granted, like a hot nutritious meal, renews hope and security for many of those here at Stout Street Foundation. Sharing a meal and having a simple conversation about the day’s events restores some normality back into their lives and we begin to see a community of individuals bond and share their experiences, strength and hope.
Caring for even the basic needs of those in our program establishes a foundation for rebuilding, for recovery, and for a new life. Teaming with companies such as NestFresh, who share our passion is imperative to sustainability in our efforts to be people helping people help themselves.”
NestFresh would like to thank the Stout Street Foundation for all that they do for our community! To learn more about their work or how to become involved, visit their website at www.stoutstreet.org.
